I also am the proud Nana of two granddogs, Jack, my daughter’s lab and boxer mix and Jenny, my son’s white lab.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design with a minor in Art History. When my children were small, I went "back to school" and received my certification to teach first through eighth grades. I have a certification in Social Studies, and I am also certified as a gifted and talented educator. In 2000, I completed my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Reading and Language Arts.
During my teaching career I have taught fourth and fifth grade. I taught at Sugar Mill Elementary for four years and then, in 1996, my family and I moved overseas to Singapore. I taught fifth grade for three years at the Singapore American School. Upon our return, I taught fourth grade at Sugar Mill Elementary for a year and then moved to fifth for three years. I have taught fifth grade math and science since becoming a Scottie. I am proud to have served as Highlands Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year.
I am looking forward to many more great years as a member of the Highlands Elementary team!
